A Tourist By Default

Truly Refreshing!
An accidental tourist is one that turns tourist by accident as he is oftentimes a businessman on the move. So, in this movie, the protagonist is a writer of tourist guidebooks for such businessmen to make the best use of their time and opportunity overseas or on out of town trips.

Captivating Throughout!
Much depressed after his son’s death, Macon (William Hurt) the writer could not get over it as he was still in the 'Leary comfort groove' with his brothers and sister. Only after his wife,  Sarah (Kathleen Turner) separated from him, that he became much aware that he must have closure and he sought the solace of Muriel, an animal hospital employee.

The movie was great, the dialogue biting and the twists and turn keeps you waiting for what will really happened. Totally unpredictable but you know that you are in for a great finish!

Grace in Defeat
The music is superb!

The best scene is when the cab which Muriel is hailing stops right in front of her. Thinking so that the taxi is meant for her, she could not but helped catching sight of Macon in the cab. Their eyes met and their smiles sum it all up!

And Geena Davis deserves her Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress of 1988.
