KUALA LUMPUR, April 8 — Bank Negara said today the economy has the potential to grow above 5 per cent this year. The central bank, which had last month forecasted gross domestic product to grow between 4.5-5.5 per cent, said the economy was now firmly on the recovery path.
“This year, the Malaysian economy is projected to grow in the region of 5 per cent with further upside potential,” central bank chief Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz said at the Korea-Malaysia Business Forum.
The country’s fiscal and monetary policies will be aimed at providing sustainable economic growth, said Zeti. — Reuters
