Cry, the Beloved Country

The Meritocracy Nation
They say that people will go where they are most valued.
They say that they want a country that will treat them fair
They would love to live in a country where merit is given its place
They say they want a country that is peaceful.
They say that people will look for self-actualization
They say that people will go where they are more appreciated.
They say they want a land that has respect for law and order.
They say that people are looking for a level playing field
They say that people do not like to live in a place where they keep on changing the goal-posts.
They say that they do not want a country full of political extremists.
They say that people do not want to live in a place where corruption is rampant.
They say that water will find its own level.
They are looking for an equalizer.
They have found it!

Better Life-style
And so able Malaysians are going away to seek their fame and fortune in other lands as their beloved homeland has no longer any hope for them.

Just look at the data been trotted out by none other than the World Bank.

A Welcoming Democracy
As of last year, the number of skilled Malaysians living and working abroad has tripled in the last 20 years.

For every 10 trained Malaysians at the tertiary level, 2 has packed up and left for better places for work outside Malaysia.

Cosmopolitan London Beckons
Their favoured destinations are:

54% has gone across the Causeway to grow the Singaporean economy.

15% has left for Australia to enjoy a better way of life.

10% has flown into the US to enjoy better democracy; and

5% is now in the UK blending profitably in their cosmopolitan cities

And what have we to show?

Lowly educated Indonesians, Nepalese, Vietnamese, mainland Chinese and Myamarese.

And yes, expect more Bangladeshis as they are going to be a source country for cheap labour!

Welcome, brothers of the taka!

For fellow Malaysians----Cry the beloved country!
