Levels of Acting

This is a great portrayal of what it means to act.

Superb!

Heat and Seduction in Old Mississippi

Best Film 1967

In a  racially charged fictitious town of Sparta in down south Mississippi, a property developer was murdered.

Stripped -own Trouble

Waiting for his connecting train at the train station to visit his mother was Virgil Tibbs, a police officer from Philadelphia. This was well portrayed by the legendary Sidney Poitier. He was brought in for questioning at the local police station.

Ethnic Differenvces

From being a suspect, he was tasked to trace the murderer  through the heat of the night where a young girl would go topless to beat the sweltering Mississippi heat. This was to cause some male hormones to go ballistic and the girl got pregnant.

It is from this pregnant girl that desired an abortion that all hell almost broke loose in this quaint town of Sparta.

This movie was voted Best Film in 1967 and won the oscar as well for Rod Steiger for best actor as the police chief.

The Prime of Laurie Patridge

I am sure you would have remembered the Partridge Family singing sit-com on television.

Many of us grew up with members of this sit-com family.

While the girls went gaga with the handsome David Cassidy, the boys will swoon for Susan Dey who acted as Laurie Partridge.

Here are some stills of the glory days of Susan Dey.

Enjoy!

Xanadu-Where Dreams Come True

Dream Music

This 1980 outing starring the fabulous Olivia Newton John and an insipid Michael Beck is about dreams coming true from the ethereal.

The Youth of Olivia

This movie  which is a blend of Greek lore, big band and pop music, is full of dances, roller skating and memorable songs such as  Magic, Suddenly and of course, Xanadu the film theme song.

Xanadu refers to the nightclub named after the summer palace of Kublai Khai.

Providing Eye Candy

To me, it is a so-so fare to bring the old and new together.

Tap Dancer of yesteryear

Representing the romantic past of hat-wearing,  tap dancing and big band music aficionado  is Gene Kelly

Caught in the Act, too!

Pin-hole camera view?

This is an African perspective of peeping.

Groping on the Shanghai Transit

Caught by technology!

I guess this can happen anywhere from Seoul, Tokyo to Hong-Kong.

In this photo capture, a man was seen groping a girl by covering her at a vantage point with a newspaper from public view.

Notice her changing face to disgust in the second picture?

This was captured in Shanghai and uploaded on Facebook.

The culprit was identified and held in custody.

Fun Time at the Easter Parade

In DVD

Let us walk back to 1948 to watch the production of Easter Parade.

Original Poster

This movie that fielded Fred Astaire and Judy Garland featured the songs of Irving Berlin and provides us a flash-back of what a super tap dancer Fred Astaire was.

At The Easter Parade Walk

The plot line has Don(Astaire) and Nadine (Ann Miller) a song and dance pair breaking up and Don got a new girl, Hannah Brown played by Judy Garland to be Nadine's replacement.

Ragtime  Violin

While the story is highly predictable and with an innocent looking Judy pouting in many scenes, this movie has its appeal through the likes of Judy, Astaire and Peter Lawford

The Garland Mystique

The memorable songs from this movie are "It Only Happens when I Dance with You, Stepping out with My Baby, The Ragtime Violin and When the Midnight Choo-Choo Leaves for Alabam"

Judy's Cherubic Appeal

Great trip down memory lane with the soulful Judy Garland.
