So the Genting name is taking further flight. This time to Hongkong.
Star Cruises is proposing to change its name from “Star Cruises Limited” to “Genting HongKong Limited”.
Apparently the name change is aimed at aligning with the corporate strategy of the company in diversifying into land-based integrated resorts, casino and entertainment businesses, in addition to its existing principal businesses of cruise and cruise related operations.
According to a Star Curise spokesperson, thsi name change is alos to "reflects the Company’s primary place of listing and its affiliation with the Genting Group. Genting Berhad, the holding company of the Genting Group of companies, is listed on Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad and is a substantial shareholder of the Company indirectly.”
Star Cruises says that the new company name will provide the company with a more appropriate identification and image which will benefit the company’s future business development and is in the interest of the company and the shareholders as a whole.
