BJFoods Brought in the Goodies

Good Reason to Celebrate
My prediction was spot on.

However, lack of cash made me dispose of all my holdings as well as my rights offers.

Let us compute what a shareholder with 10 lots of BJ Food stand to gain from the entire exercise of hardly a month.

Assuming you bought the 10 lots at RM1.20. This means you have coughed out about RM12,040.

The rights you would be offered will be on a 4 for 5 basis. That means they will offer you 8 lots of the new rights with an equivalent number of warrants.

You need to pony up RM6,515 for the rights. that includes RM10 revenue stamp as well as about RM5 for your bank draft.

Assumed you sold all your 10 lots of mother shares at 95 sen after it ex-rights offer. That will bring you returns of RM9,450. You therefore take outright  loss of RM 2,590.

Now to the new trading scenario.

BJFoods has now gone ex- and has touched a high of RM1.24. The warrants was well traded until 60sen.

Assuming you have sold all your BJFoods new rights at RM1.20; then you would have taken in RM9,600 gross. Let's assume you have also relinquish the warrants at 60 sen each. This will add to RM4,800. Total takings will be RM14,400. After deducting for RM 6,515 for the rights issue and a loss of RM 2,590, you would have a clean profit of RM5,295.

Imagine a return of 81% all within a month!

Great stock, don't you think so?

Pity I can only calculate my loss.

Next to watch will be YTL Power Warrants.

I do hope my investment and  trading strategy will be okay this time around.

As they all say, you have Vision 20 20 mostly on hindsight!

We salute you, Stevie even though you maybe in iHeaven.

A Cloudy GPS Day

We were on the way to the EIG AGM.

It rained and the day was pretty cloudy.

As we got out from the NKVE, we headed towards Bukit Jelutong.

And then the GPS went cuckoo.

Bad Scout When it is Cloudy
It routed us to all places but the destination.

Soon we were misled out back onto the highway to pay toll once more but this time heading towards Setia Alam and Ecopark.

Going back would be disastrous what with the piling traffic jam. So, we hightailed for home after making a detour.

A GPS is just not good when it is cloudy.

Maybe it may rain meatball if we are luckier.

BJFoods-Buyers have gone Bonkers

Coffee Rewards for the Die-hard Holders

Just when you think that it is time to leave BJFood, when screaming buyers descended like buzzards to pick up what every seller had to sell. It was a feeding frenzy until the afternoon session.

Then when the amok buying quelled, prices on BJF and its warrants came down to more decent levels.

On a huge volume of 980,600, BJF tacked on 11 sen to close at RM1.16. The warrants similarly was up at 58 sen, gaining 10.5 sen with a volume of  1,054,300.

So, it looks like all my predictions have come true after I have dumped my rights offer.

Jeez! What a crying shame.

Two Days Stint in Rapporteuring

Note scribbler
Well, in the midst of the hassle to do one grant application and also to keep step with a dateline of my current white paper writing job, I have to step out of this loop to do a spate of rapporteuring at a technology colloquium at The Mines. It will be for one and a half day scribbling away and looking for facts after chucking away the gibberish spewed forth by both nonsensical pseudo speakers as well as ego-driven participants.

Fortunately for me, as the days passed by, information on the grant application proves elusive and I can see a shift of the dateline by another week. Hopefully, the inputs submitted will be good for use.

As for the white paper writing job, it is truly overwhelming what with trying to grasp the subject and to use  the synthesis in the writing.

I do hope that they will consider a dateline flexibility especially for the first milestone.

In the meantime, another project is appearing on the horizon. It is an institution review paper and will likely take me up to New Year's day 2013, if we can get the job at the price we are pitching.

Lord, when it rains it really floods .

Amen.

Conundrum BJFoods

No Crappacino?
So, now that it has gone exed all, what is really, really happening at BJFoods(BJF)?

It went down to a low of 86 sen when the rights got listed.

The warrants went down to 38.5 sen.

There was no volume as usual.

Where are all those new rights?

How is it they are again kept in the CDS accounts as the price cannot see traction?

By Jove, today, it went berserk and started climbing beyond the ringgit mark. While BJF chalked up 7 sen to RM1.05, the warrants took a jump to 47.5 sen collecting  a 6.5 sen gain.

Will there be traction?

Better be because we need the support form Starbucks to give us better dividends.

Any more goodies, Vincente?

The New Voter and Female Voter Lynch-pin

The winning edge

Political analysts are hard at work, spewing new statistics that must be taken in consideration lest it may upset the apple cart.

It is estimated that more than one in 10 voters in the next general election will be first timers and how they lean will likely determine who takes Putrajaya comes the next general elections. Most of these are presumably fence-sitters — especially women working at home and the young —will be the lynch-pin to determine the results of the elections that must be called by next April 2013.

Until the end of last year, the number of eligible voters had swelled from 10.9 million during Election 2008 to 12.2 million Malaysians, an increase of  more than 10% or 1.3 million in absolute number. This figure will inevitably rise further if elections are delayed to next year.

Political parties are on the warpath seizing on all opportunities to get every eligible Malaysia to register within the short time frame left.

Let us revisit the voting metrics of the last general election.

BN secured 4.08 million votes in 2008 compared to PR’s 3.79 million ― a very slim difference of fewer than 290,000 votes . Will the number of new voters be for the yet to be registered PR front or will they set the pendulum swinging again for the BN?

While the BN is good at optics by staging huge gathering, the PR component parties have been using stealth tactics to promote voter registration.

Brigades of young apparatchiks go from house-to-house tirelessly to register voters as the impending election date looms; possibly to be held as early as October 2012. Out there, according to Election Commission (EC) statistics, there are still 3.3 million unregistered voters that can be the tipping point to victory.

The Merdeka Center that much followed survey bellweather, have concluded that two main groups of fence-sitters-the  young and women working at home will be the kingmakers for the 13th GE.

According to Ibrahim of the Merdeka Center, undecided voters these days are a different breed. There are those that continue to be uninformed and those who are well-informed. While the least informed may be blindsided to still vote for the BN, the other  more informed fence-sitters may vote for the PR or BN on polling day. He remarked that they  are  a strange kettle of fish-"sceptical" about BN, but also "having strong reservations" on PR.

As for the  "women who are not in the workforce, they tend to be less exposed to political development or rather (get a) one-sided point of view". They can vote either way, I presume, Mr Ibrahim?

As for the urban-rural divide, the Merdeka Center believes that fence-sitters remain in semi-urban or rural areas, while most city dwellers have already opted to support PR. Betulkah?

Saying that the economy will remain Malaysia's main concern, Ibrahim said other factors that could sway voters are candidate choices and the conduct of the election campaign. Perhaps, we should focus on this more, Mr Ibrahim. I am tempted to say that the 13th GE may be  'candidate and issue' driven compared to the fanfare politics of old.

Let us look at the personalities in BN and PR.

Will tainted yet powerful leaders be ponied up yet again by BN? Will such dinosaurs honourable leave or will they sabotage the s3elected candidates? Just like thevery, there is little honour among politicians.

Currently, there is indeed lack of new blood in all BN component parties. With the postponed party elections ploy not working as well for BN parties, will new faces be selected by BN for the upcoming elections? Have they developed stature? By any stretch of the  imagination, are they genuinely 'cool wins'?

There is so much controversy surrounding many BN leaders these days and nothing substantial has yet to be done to bring them action to bear upon them. This insulation may not go down well with new voters and until such issues find appeasement, voters may not find it easy to accept such leaders and vote the other candidate.

As for the PR, they have developed more next generation leaders showing their mettle on current issues. Would these new faces add more seats for PR to tip them towards Putrajaya? Would more seats from the fixed deposit states of East Malaysia be lost to the PR?

Anuar Mohd Nor, of Institut Asas Kajian Kemasyarakatan, shared Ibrahim's views that "it is crucial for both sides to acknowledge fence-sitters."

While observing that campaign tactics are different between BN and PR, Anuar said, both sides are using the internet to woo "new generation" voters and through catchy songs as well. More pro-BN news portals and a rising number of supporters taking to Twitter are testimony of BN's rather late adoption of social platforms for campaigning.

The One Million Youth Gathering in Putrajaya in May and recently launching the volunteer programme 1 Malaysia Youths For You (1M4U) may be good for optics and crowd-pullers; but do  crowds translate  into votes? To me, there is little relationship and no indication as well.

As for big programmes of BN such as BR1M, he remarked that every good deed even angpows has an expiry date as people forget easily once the effects rubbed off. For me, many did not get BR1M as it is not inclusive. For everyone that got the RM500, many did not get it and this double-edged tactic may wrought more damage to BN.

Annuar has wise advice for both BN and PR.

Play on "current issues touches on their daily lives" even as close as two weeks before the polls date. "Work through policies now" and not give solutions only when elections draw near.

Both analysts agree that issues of "corruption and integrity" will swing votes among the young electorate, with Anuar pointing to exposes of both scandals by BN and PR.

Currently, Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's online presence is far behind Najib, with his Facebook account recording less "likes" and a smaller following for his Twitter account. But will this truly count given the lack of transparency over cyberspace?

In a bid to woo Internet-savvy young voters, Anwar hosted a live chat on Google Hangout recently, in a first for politicians in Malaysia. Will Najib follow suit?

What can be that winning game changer strategy that the victor can ride to romp home to Putrajaya? It must quickly be found.

By the way, where is Aladdin's lamp, good friends?

Body Snatching Takes on New Meaning

No longer  sacrosanct

What has the world come to in Bolehland?

In the past, there were physical body snatching after the religious authorities claims that a person has converted to the Islamic faith before he or she has departed.

Today, it takes on new meaning when even cremated ashes were taken away.

In the lovely island of Penang in the northern part of Peninsular Malaysia, the cremated ashes of a demised Indian lady were taken away by the authorities.

This really bring a sea-change to the meaning of body snatching.

Where has civilization gone to?

Down the tube?

One Romantic Thought

How true.......a romance of a lifetime.

Visiting Father on 19 August 2012

Father at 88

It may be the first day of Hari Raya Aidil Fitri.

They may give me a rebate of 30% for using the NSE.

Whatever it was, I took the opportunity from teaching at a neighbourhood tuition centre to visit Father.

He had a fall two weeks back.

The doctors after examining him found a fracture and an apparent 'flattening' of his lower leg bone. However, due to his age of close to 88 years, they do not recommend any surgery.

So, along with my mother and Shaline we journeyed back to Malacca. There was little traffic and we got home in good time.

We bought durians as Father likes them; so did Mother.

Good to see Father and he was also in a good mood to see us.

After observing his movement, I believe his inability to walk could be attributed not only to weak legs but also his weakening leg and thigh muscles as he lacked exercise.

As for his incontinence, I think it is because he has back problems and the nerves impacted by his vertebrae's  dislocation could have lead to his inability to hold urine.

I bought him 5 packets of TEANA adult diapers. It should last a while.

At 2.30pm we left for Kuala Lumpur.

I intend to stop teaching next year to concentrate on writing and consulting.

This should give me ample opportunity to visit Father and Mother.

Agathian Shelter comes Full Circle

Best Speaker
I remembered perhaps it was about maybe 4 years back when I assisted Vickie to run a half-day training session in public speaking.  It was almost Christmas time and the children were just back from Christmas caroling. After giving them pointers on what to do to promote public speaking skills, we then had a contest.

These course participants were mostly from shelter homes and orphanages, I recalled and Navita was given the accolade for best speaker. I guess girls tend to prepare their work better compared to boys who may have little interest in developing such skills.

Today fast forward to 2012, my daughter is involved in community work at Agathian Shelter over in Section 8, PJ as part of her job requirements. She is teaching the boys there how to read.

As they say, what goes around, comes around.

The Cheaper Malaysian Millionaires

Mansion Style Billionaires
The On-line STAR today (18 Aug 2012) featured a very interesting topic today-Cheap Malaysian Millionaires.

Yes, they can be still carry the label millionaires but it is no longer a big deal anymore. Though they can lay claim to that status because of their rapidly appreciating properties, they do not feel any richer, living a mediocre middle income life perhaps on similar levels to a high-salaried person from the working class category.

These cheapo millionaires can include those who had the wherewithal to spend investment money for their children’s education especially in twinning programmes with a possible year or two overseas.

Having numbers but not the lifestyle, they are the constant victim of runaway inflsation in Malaysian A ringgit in Janaury fetches perhaps less than 50% in December in a calendar year. Boo Hoo!

Billionaires, however, remain rare. Malaysia now has 30 billionaires, just three more from the 27 on the list last year.

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported last year that Malaysia's millionaires almost doubled over the previous 18 months.

A report by international financial firm ,Credit Suisse Groupstated that Malaysia have added 19,000 new millionaires since early 2010, bringing the total to 39,000 as of October 2010.

Those who invested their money wisely had benefited the most duing this period.

“In a free market and capitalist economy like Malaysia, people who have capital can generate millions,” says Dr Yeap of RAM, emphasizing that many in the upper-income bracket had accumulated wealth past the million-ringgit mark.

Personal financial consultant Carol Yip said the rising cost of living had lessened the feeling of being rich.

“Today, even a small apartment can cost half a million,” she said.

She said careful spending was not a factor for the increase in the numbers of millionaires.

“If we are spending less, we won't be seeing so many luxury cars on the road,” she said.

She said the rise in millionaires was also due to property prices which have shot up exponentially, adding that the definition should not include the value of the house that one was living in.

So, are you in this category of cheap-going-cheaper inflation millionaire?

Nah, not me!

BNM, Two Speed Growth and Western Digital

Will commodity succumb next?
Analysts are trying to explain the latest data on the economy as ponied up by Zeti from BNM. Above the analysts best call. If I remember correctly-5.4% ?

For a lack of explanation, they have conceded that the growth may have sprung up from government project spending though the other unrelated sectors have faced the onslaught of the global market tremors. So ,the word used is " two staged".

Meanwhile reality is biting. Western Digital has just announced a  RSS to let go of 1,200 workers. Is this the early sign that the export led economy is crumbling, Zeti?

The AMMB Boo-Boo

Please be more pro-active!
Strange that a big bank who has organised many AGM/EGMs could fumbled big time today at this year annual AGM held at Berjaya Time Square.

Something was really amiss when shareholders who had rushed through heavy maddening KL traffic jams to got to the meeting was greeted with such dismay.

So, what  greeted them?

Hampa!  Perassan hampa! Mistreated!

Here you see these unsympathetic Symphony House  intermediaries registering shareholders. Some of these share registrars had gift coupons  to give out while others have ran out of them. So those without coupons to hand out conveniently  got rid of these unfortunate shareholders by waving them away, saying " No more gifts or breakfast but you can attend the AGM."

What a shame, Symphony House! Have more professionalism-lah!

So unfeeling, these people from the service industry.

I was certainly unhappy that the AMMB staff that stood behind these Symphony House people did not bat an eye to help out by getting more gift coupons for these shareholders. They might as well be invisible! Double shame on you!

The strangest thing was there were so many gifts still to be collected. As the shareholders who came late has no coupons to avail themselves to these gifts, the officers manning the gift counters were just standing like trees, unable to dole out those recycle bags of gifts.

So, Mr Squeaky Clean CEO, do something. I think Tan Sri Chairman would have cried seeing all those old shareholders being roundly denied of their door gifts!

Make sure such a boo-boo does not happen again. Make sure AMMB boleh!

Makes sure you have proactive AMMB people at the registration counters who will  have enough gift coupons ready to give out.

After all, you already have the proxy forms in hand of those who are coming for the AGM.

'First come, first serve is one real bad policy, Tan Sri!"

So, AMMB, learn and you may yet be considered a good bank to invest in.

A Day in Johor Bahru and A Writing Job In the Bag

Did not see this side of the city

As usual, I fret about long journeys but M was most understandable.

We stopped for pee-breaks along the way.

I have not seen Johore Bahru for about 16 years now.

However, did not get to see the usual city side of Johore Bahru off Jalan Wong Ah Fook but more of Johor Jaya.

We had a half-day meeting with the client and achieved plenty.

Assuming that they give me the information that we sought by Friday, I should be able to put out the application by end of August.

Had a tuna sandwich with the hosts at Lavender before heading home at 5.45 pm.

Maniam drove well and we reached home at 10 pm.

Great day for me as I secured a writing job at a good rate.

So,its hard work for me on this grant application, the MPC job as well as this new job.

Bunny just contacted me as another job might be opening at UEM.

When God closes one door, he really opened up many until my cup's runneth over!

Shooting Off Your Mouth

Yes, these comments are just...... incredulous.

They are equally laughable.

Enjoy.

What happens when you shoot off your mouth!!

Fun Time at the Olympics!
News of Olympic Proportions

Here are the top nine comments made by NBC sports commentators during past Summer Olympics that they would like to take back:

1. Weightlifting commentator: "This is Gregoriava from Bulgaria . I saw her snatch this morning during her warm up and it was amazing."

2. Dressage commentator: "This is really a lovely horse and I speak from personal experience since I once mounted her mother."

3. Paul Hamm, Gymnast: "I owe a lot to my parents, especially my mother and father."

4. Boxing Analyst: "Sure there have been injuries, and even some deaths in boxing, but none of them really that serious."

5. Softball announcer: "If history repeats itself, I should think we can expect the same thing again."

6. Basketball analyst: "He dribbles a lot and the opposition doesn't  like it.  In fact you can see it all over their faces."

7. At the rowing medal ceremony: "Ah, isn't that nice, the wife  of the IOC president is hugging the cox of the British crew."

8. Soccer commentator: "Julian Dicks is everywhere. It's like they've got eleven Dicks on the field."

9. Tennis commentator: "One of the reasons Andy is playing so well is that, before the final round, his wife takes out his balls and kisses them...
Oh my God, what have I just said?"

Get the Spread, BJLand Told

A Potential Placement ?

BJLand has received a rejection on its application to maintain a lower public shareholding spread. It's current spread is only 18.63%.

This shows that most of the shares are held by the Berjaya Group of companies and its allies.

As the Sports Toto shares will be put under a reit in Singapore, I do not see why the shares must be amassed and held tightly anymore.

The more the spread, the better will be its activity.

Bursa KL however have given BJLand an extension of time to comply with the public shareholding

Will there be a share placement in the offing?

BJFoods and Its Warrants-Opening Trades

Losing traction

Well, as expected the price of BJFoods (BJF) slumped to 92 sen before recovering to 94 sen for a loss of 3 sen.

The warrants opened at 48 sen before being traded down to 42 sen.

If you take the price of RM1.43 sen before it went ex-all, the difference will be RM1.43-94 sen = (a loss of 49sen) sen. Tack on 42 sen and you still lose 7 sen.

So, for those who kept the share and took the rights and warrants, it is a loss if you bought in at RM1.43 sen cum rights.

Only those who bought at RM1.36 will break even on gross; losing on nett.

Those who bought at  RM1.32 will scrap through with no losses.

What you need to do is maybe become a long-term player on this counter and hope that Starbucks will bring big bucks to you!

So, have you got the picture now?

Another Writing Job

To Write Expressively

Maybe I am risking it but I guess I still have the capacity to take on this one. God willing.

This is an assignment to write something on web business.

The trick is to digest the fundamentals of business in the virtual world; its early beginnings and the current action in the ever dynamic and competitive virtual platforms using Facebook to other social working networks.

The only thing is to make it understandable to the layman.

A Malaysian Indian as a Potential Second DPM?

Opening a Possibility?
The Malaysian political fabric is certainly fraying at the seams with NGOs now jumping on the bandwagon when political parties remain deafeningly mute on off-colour issues like demanding that an Indian be made  a Second DPM.

Trust MIC not to be tangled in this fangled issue. They will not leave the comfort zone.

So, NIAT which stands for the National Indian Action Rights Team has done MIC a favour it has never dared asked for even in private.

That Ambiga also appears in this team is fodder to feed on.

Will she be plunging into politics now?

Domestic Violence on Males

Reason to Beat him!

It may not be reported in the mainstream media.

It happens.

Just like there is under reporting for crimes and cases of psychiatry, male abuse by their spouses is getting significant.

The latest report in THE STAR today tells us that the Welfare Department received 25 reports from men who were abused by their wives or girlfriends last year, 32 in 2010 and 14 in 2009.

Most cases were reported in Selangor, followed by the Federal Territory, and the offences included threatening injury, causing physical harm, emotional abuse and locking up the men.

The Department of Women Development received four cases of abused men last year, with financial disagreement being the root of all cases.

In each case, “the wife is more dominant in the family and earns a higher income than the husband,” it said in an e-mail.

Women, on the other hand, reported 117 cases of domestic abuse up to June this year, compared to 649 last year and 663 in 2010.

Neuro-psychologist Dr Nivashinie Mohan said that financial stress was the major cause of domestic violence against men.

“Studies have shown that women assault men about as often as men assault women,” she said.

“While men tend to cause more damage because they are usually stronger, women can even the odds with weapons such as knives, high heels and sharp nails.”

Dr Nivashinie said abused men were reluctant to turn to the authorities for fear of appearing “unmanly”.

“Society also teaches men that it's wrong to hit women, so they don't retaliate,” she added.

Many of the women who abused men were alcoholic while some could be suffering from certain personality disorders that cause them to be violent towards their partners.

MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong said that some women were breadwinners and abused their husbands for “reckless spending”.

He also encountered four cases of wives becoming violent after learning that their spouses had affairs.

Consultant psychiatrist Dr Ting Joe Hang said women might look on spouses who earn less as “useless” and as a result, would abuse them.

He said there may be reasons other than money problems.

Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Heng Seai Kie said there was no excuse for domestic violence.

Incidentally males who give all of their income or most of it to their spouses will also likely to be abused by them.

So, watched out!

Car-washed!

My wife took the car for a car-wash at Esso.

I was sitting behind in the back seat looking at some bills.

Suddenly I was car-washed as well!

Water baptism at a Car-wash!
Seems like those mechanics whom I sent my car for repair did not fully wound up the back car window!

What an experience!

Magnificent Seven-The Malboro Movie

Mighty Seven
The theme for Marlboro High country was taken from The Magnificent Seven.

The movie is based on the Japanese equivalent of Seven Samurai.

Gunfighters Galore
A group of seven gunfighters that took it to be their task to protect a peasant village resulted in saving the village from marauders led by Cavalho played by a young Eli Wallach.

Enjoy the likes of Yul Brynner, Steve McQeen, Hotlz Bulhotz, Charles Bronson and James Coburn.

Nice movie if you have time to spare.

Will 1MDB buy over YTL Power's Paka and Pasir Gudang operations?

The New Mega IPP?
Seems 1MDB is in a hurry and feeding frenzy to gobble up IPPs in Malaysia.

First, they took over Ananda Krishnan's  Tanjong's power operations.

Now, they are in the process of trying to take over Genting Sanyen Power profiting the Genting Group.

So, what is left of the IPPs?

Yes to fell to 1MDB?
The biggest one is under Syed Mokhtar called Malakoff en-route for re-listing on the bursa.

The Southern Megalith
So, when do you think they will take over YTL Power's assets in Paka and Pasir Gudang?

Note the word, "When".

Knowing Francis, he may give it away if the price is right and concentrate on foreign power and utilities acquisition.

Powering the Eastern Seaboard
After all the current rates for Pasir Gudang and Paka will come for negotiation only in 2015.

So anything can happen with 1MDB until then.

If the government wants to forever get rid of IPPs as a sad relic of the Mahathir era, maybe it is NOW!

But you will get a gigantic 1MDB IPP instead.....won't you?

Will that means no more over-pricing of tariffs to Tenaga?

You never know ......................

Subdued Trading Week at the Bursar

Dull Dullard
If there is one word to describe the mood of the Bursa KL this week, it is subdued.

Trading was down tempo with the general market trading in lack-luster fashion.

Except for the few orang puteh managed companies such as F&N, Nestle, GAB, BAT,Carlsberg, Digi, Dutch Lady, and LMCement, the market see-sawed.

What I did notice was there was sustained buying on two specific counters.

Surreptitious Amassing by EPF
The first is YTL Corp. The buyers included the Yeoh family members themselves including YTL himself. There was aggressive Treasury buy-ins when the counter dived to RM1.76.

Also in apparent disguised buying was EPF, collecting YTL Corp shares like there is no tomorrow.

Something is happening and those in the corridors of corporate powers know.

With RM16 billion in cash, I believe that Francis will announced massive power and utilities acquisition as he puts YTL Power into privatisation mode.

To ensure YTL Corporation shareholders get the best deal, expect both YTL Corp and YTL Power to start on a upward price trajectory soon.

The apparent game to my mind will be to have a significant gap between the price of these two counters before the swap valuation is announced. A good bet will see YTL Corp breaching RM2.50 with YTL Power moving closer to the RM2.30 mark.

The exchange will see the privatisation of YTL Power at the best price to the Yeohs, YTL Corp and YTL Power shareholders.

I think Francis is going for triple harmony.

Telenor Uptake?

Another counter going north is Digi.com. As usual, EPF is just gobbling it up.

The price today at closing was RM4.71 at a 1-sen share par value or an equivalent RM47,100 per lot on the cum-par value basis of a 10 sen share.

What do you think is in the offing?

I do not think it is the current 5.9% cum dividend or the impending dividend in specie due in the first quarter of 2013.

I am inclined to think it will be the liberalisation of the telecoms sector where the foreign sector can take more than the maximum ceiling share holding of 49%. If that be the case, then Telenor can buy more and the price will go up and up as the current float gets digested and warehoused.

Will Starbucks Buck up the Price?

Today marked the last day of BJFoods's mother share. It ended up 1.5 sen at 97 sen.

The new rights at 65 sen and the warrants (2012-2017) at a convertible price of 70 sen  will start trading on Monday 13 August.

Will it go up and will dumping takes place?

If so, will Vincent and his allies start up the Dysonian mopping exercise to ensure the spoils of Starbucks remain in the family?

Whatever the case, it would be interesting to watch what the warrants will fetch.

Starbucks, We are F.......ked! Royally So!

Losing its luster?
Vincent has lost his magic touch. That is almost sure by the way most of his counters are floundering.

As for Robin, he is now in limboland. Will some seeds help?

Remember the failed listing on the Bursa of Berjaya Retail? Crying shame.

What about fly-high BJ Sports Toto? Dwarfed like Uranus.......

BJ Land-prices has slid down the tube...........to the inner depths.

BJ Corp-too many machinations. We have lost the plot here after the delisting of Cosway from Hong-Kong.

BJ Media-out of the news with such lo,low prices...its chokingly sickening.

BJ Assets-also sliding.............

Thought that one great hope was BJ Foods with its expansion plans and absorption of 50% of the South-east Asian Starbucks franchise.

No, but that is where I got it wrong.

The counter before and after ex was a killer for loyal shareholders.

The prices of the counter is nearing morgue prices as we get nearer to the new rights and warrants listing on 13 August.

Do we have to do a post mortem on a half dead counter?

The Berjaya Group management must be hiding in the woodworks by now.

Fear is the Key

Fear is Crippling
Malaysia is suffering from perception problems.

Crime is low as bailed out by police statistics.

But then, why is there fear in the air?

Why are shops and offices closing so much earlier than usual?

Is there a key to safeguard the innocent populace?

Why is that worried, hurried,' looking over your shoulder' look so prevalent these days that we see almost everywhere as dusk falls?

Like from some bad movies.

The truth?

Somewhere beyond statistics.

The number of crime graphically described  in the virtual social network from blogs to Facebook attest to the horrors of street crimes and daylight robberies. The frequency of such happenings is shocking. The apparent fear is no one can be safe anymore.

Politically, in Sabah in various districts are purported reports of being overwhelmed by foreign elements. Fear is real;no longer apparent.

Are our borders that porous?

Or is that problem an opportunity for many to maintain the status quo politically as fear is the key?

Angela's Happiness Pursuit. Don't We All?

Angelina Jolie wants happiness in her heart. That is key.

We all desire that too-to live not in fear.

To be secure in our search for happiness.

Is Malaysia safe anymore?

Gratings,Fencing and Danger

When times get bad, the bad gets going.

Look!  Wahloi! It's gone!
And so it seems.......................

So, in one fell swoop, the raiders of metal gratings stormed into SEAPARK, PJ in the wee hours of one morning and pried away these metal pieces that is meant for drain  maintenance. They then fenced it off to unscrupulous traders in the metal trade for quick cash.

My way
These man-hole covers are really important, providing public safety. You can literally fell into one exposed manhole and break some of your teeth!

Red Flagging
When I was in Manila a couple of decades back, a few of us Malaysian students at the Asian Institute of Management were on the way to the residence of the Malaysian Ambassador to have dinner in conjunction with Merdeka Day.

Tyre Deterrent
Walking on the pavement, one of our friends Kee Boo just disappeared. Suddenly we heard a moan and then a shout. Mama Mia! He has fallen into a uncovered man-hole. Fortunately, except for some cuts on the arms, Kee Boo had one lucky escape.

Plank will do
See the novel ways residents have temporarily covered these dangerous walk-way gaps.

The local authorities must find a way of sealing such gratings in some permanent ways to deter thieves such as attaching them semi-permanently on to the concrete.

Sugarcane leaves? Scary-lah this one!
