Yes, when it was least expected, it occurred.
I was on the left hand side of the service road driving merrily after some shopping in DIY at PJ One.
Suddenly out of the darkness from a lane between two blocks spurted out an old blue Kancil.
It hit me on my right fender and wheel compartment.
At first, I could not open the front driver's door but after nudging it, gradually it opened agonizingly to let me out of the car.
A tall elderly Tuan Haji came out of the small vehicle.
He claimed that he was already on the road when I hit him instead.
His damages...not too sure but his bumper got a bit dislodged and there were two small marks on the front fender near the lights.
He simply refused to give me any details such as name, driving licence and insurance.
"Go and report to the police, " he pointedly said to me.
So, I spent 90 minutes at the Traffic Police Station in Section 8, PJ.
Got home at 11.45 pm.
I do not know what is the 'siasatan' going to be.
Whoever is found wrong pays RM 300 and may lose some demerit points.
Right now, the "other guy" has not reported the accident to the police.
Sargent Nur told me to wait 24 hours. If no report has been made, then onward action will be taken to track down the perpetrator.
If he is found to be in the wrong, then I could make a claim against his insurance.
Found out the car is registered in his daughter's name. Address: Klang.
The car insurance is with AXA Affin.
The Sargent told me that 'give or take', the investigations on this accident will take some 14 days and some.
So, meanwhile, as my car is still roadworthy, I will live with the additional damage to the fender to display the 'wounds of war' driving in a war zone that is Petaling Jaya!

Writing and Translation
In some way, writing is my forte.
Thus far, I have written three trade reports. I thank my late friend for putting out his neck on the chopping board to give me this opportunity. No, no rules were broken. It was by quotation.
Yes, I am conversant with translation too!I have done a translation of two annual reports, I have also translated licenses issues by authorities as well as assignments related to trade.
While jobs are hard to come by and the revenue generated is minuscule, the qualitative rewards are truly enormous when your writings get accepted in first draft forms!
I am not proud of my revenue thus far as it is not sustainable. So, do not try to make writing your primary preoccupation to earn a livelihood. Do it on the sideline and do not leave your day time job!
Make it a hobby that you enjoy through your own creativity and imagination!
I am currently writing a piece for a restaurant.

Bamboozled by a Battery
![]() |
| The one that went flat |
Yes, blame it on my failure to notice that the car lights were on.
Blame it on the radiant evening sun that streaks and freaked me out and even when I check the light switches, it appeared to be off. Has madness crept over me?
Or blame it on my cataracts that I have yet to have a operations to rid me of the float, flashes and what-nots.
Whatever it was, that fateful day, 29 March 2016 proved to be an expensive day.
I have to pay RM 183 for a new battery.
This is a maintenance free type as compared to the water top-up type that would cost RM50 less.
What a day...........

The Passing of K. Anbalagan
I stumbled upon Gnyanambikai today at the Big Aeon supermarket at Tropicana Mall.
It was a happy meeting but with heavy news.
Almost 2 years ago, my great friend whom we affectionately called Anbu passed on.
According to Gnyanam, it was 22 April 2014.
Having chest pain, he went first to the Kelana Jaya Community Clinic and then rushed to the Universiti Hospital. Drove himself. Collapsed at the Trauma Centre and was confirmed Dead on Arrival.
According to Gnyanam, after his death, she found a set of x-rays showing the blockages he had in his heart.
Was it a death wish, Ambu?
Sad to know of his passing.
I am sure he is at a better place now.
For us, the living, count our blessings for God is on our side.
My 2-years too late condolences to Gnyanam on the passing of her husband, Anabalagan.
Always remembered in my daily prayers.

Yes, its Boxing Day where you get your boxes removed after unwrapping them. For others, its really a day to watch that two fighter in a square ring!
For me, its the wedding of Su Ern.

She's now an English teacher, a subject very close to my heart. As for her hubby, he is an accountant just like my children.
Dinner was nice, the red wine was nicer.

Presents from Janice and Kian Ru
![]() |
| The impressively designed card cover |
25th December is a very well celebrated day fore whatever reason.
For me, this year it took added significance because two former students, Janice and Kian Ru (two sisters) gave me a Christmas present each.

| A Caricature of me teaching literature... |
They were lovely presents-indicative of life itself.
Kian Ru gave me a box of Ferraro Roche-reminiscent of the movie, Forest Gump -"Life is like a box of chocolate-you never know what you are going to get".

| The Heartfelt Message from Kian Ru |
Janice's present was a box of Danish cookies-again, reminding me of life being similar to the wise saying of likening it to life ---- how will the cookie crumble for you.
Great Christmas gifts for one with a sweet tooth such as I.
While Janice is an intern doing some work in design and intending to pursue a degree in it, Kian Ru has now decided to take the CAT route to an Accounting career.

| Sisters Two |
I thank them for their presents.
Most of all I love the Christmas card, the sisters sent.
The design and drawings were likely by Janice (it was professional!) while the heartfelt message was from Kian Ru.
Both are daughters of Jesslyn whom I taught pro bono at DUMC Adult English class.
Believe me, I have taught English to Kian Ru from Std 4 up to Form Five.
I hope it will pay off with her getting a good grade possibly a distinction in English 1119.
All's in the hand of Almighty God but privately it will be good for my feelings of achievement!
Amen.
