You Lucky Catfish!

Look at these pictures.

Don't ask me how the basketball went to sea. There are many explanations if you want to second-guess.

However, what is pertinent here is that it was one tasty morsel that the catfish could not let go off.

So, it bit more than it can swallow and got stuck for dear life.

A nature loving fisherman and his wife cut the air out of the ball and let the catfish go scot-free.

Thankfully, this did not happen in Asia.

Otherwise, it would have been crisply fried catfish in a wok!

The Future Plane for You

The real thing may not be here but the artistic impressions do reflect where planes are going both functionally and aesthetically.

It looks very futuristic just like out of a Star Wars movie.

Air Travel by the year 2050 is going to be very futuristic. Though the the vision may not have been cast in stone, these photo shots do enthralls one ........

The plane we are talking about is the New Airbus, to take to the skies in 2050.

Airbus has unveiled a futuristic concept for a transparent plane that may be everyday air transport in 2050. With its see-through aircraft cabin, passengers of the future will get a window on the world as they fly through the sky. They will be able to see everything to the sides and in front of them.

The concept cabin unveiled at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London, would be of a bionic structure that 'mimics' the efficiency of the bird bone, claimed the company.

It would provide strength where needed, and also allows for an intelligent' cabin wall membrane, which controls air temperature and can become transparent to give passengers open, panoramic views.

The company believes that mid-century passengers might be able to enjoy a game of virtual golf or take part in interactive conferences, while the cabin 'identifies and responds' to travelers' needs.

In the 'interactive zone' there are virtual pop-up projections taking passengers to whichever social scene they want to be in, from holographic gaming to virtual changing rooms for active shoppers.

The 'smart tech zone' is tailored towards the more functional-orientated passenger with what Airbus describes as 'a chameleon-style offering.'

It aims to meet individual needs ranging from a simple to a complete luxury service, but all allowing 'you to continue life as if on the ground'.

"Our research shows that passengers of 2050 will expect a seamless travel experience while also caring for the environment," the Daily Mail quoted Airbus engineering executive vice-president Charles Champion as saying.

"The concept cabin is designed with that in mind, and shows that the journey can be as much a voyage of discovery as the destination," he added.

Though, many of us may not live to see it or experience flight on such a flying wonder,it is just a marvel just to look at it!

Talking about competitve extremism, I do not think Malaysia can lick China.

William Cheng Turns 13 GE Seer

Looks like the business fraternity is now into the guessing game as well.

Not knowing the date for the GE is counter-productive to business development and growth in the country,so says William Cheng of the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCIM).

He predicts it is too soon to expect the GE in May or June. The likely date according to William will be October.

By his musing, PM is away in the USA in June and July is the fasting month. No, not on Raya. So, by deduction-October.

He believes the earlier the elections is held the better for entrepreneurs. This is crucial as a new business climate may emerge after the elections which will allow business community to plan accordingly as early as possible.

As on outstanding issues, he said the NFC, Lynas, education and fair treatment to the Malaysian Chinese need to be addressed and solved quickly.

He also recommended that there must be a political will to stamp out corruption,improving public safety and security and checking runaway inflation.

Any party who wants to be the next government ought to listen to their hearts and their minds.

Menacing Music of the Night

The staging of the 25th Anniversary of the Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall in London was one momentous event.

Besides the haunting musical score and adorable nostalgic numbers, the showmanship was beyond words.

Andrew Lloyd Webber, Cameron Mackintosh, Sarah Brightman, Michael Crawford,Colm Wilkinson, Anthony Warlow, John Owen-Jones and Peter Jöback, Sierra Boggess and Ramin Karimloo really made it a night to remember for connoisseurs of fine opera.

I enjoyed the DVD presentation of the event on 14 November 2011.

Watch it and be immersed in the magic of the most dramatic opera ever staged in modern performing arts.

The Dublin Woman Waiter

You would definitely recall the movie, "Victor, Victoria". In that movie, the Julie Andrews persona had to dress like a man to obtain employment to survive the harsh winter.

Here, we return to a similar premise in bleak 19th Century Dublin where a woman called Albert Nobbs worked as a male waiter in a hotel trying to save money to buy a tobacconist business.

Straight-faced Glenn Close is Albert and she put on one real mean disturbing performance.

The movie also exposes the possibility of an informal same sex marriage though not in the form it is occurring today.

An emotionally charged movie where in the end, there is little poetic justice as Albert, already savaged by typhoid fever, dies of grief and loss all his savings to the hotel proprietress.

Though Glenn put up a good performance here as Nobbs, she lost the Academy Award to the indomitable Meryl Streep.
