EPF-Market Maker or Destroyer?

Gambling with public cash?
In a small market like Bursar KL, pension funds rule supreme if foreign funds shun it; like presently.

For whatever reasons it may have; through its approved traders,EPF buys heavily moving prices like mountains or sell down a counter like that Japanese tsumani leveling prices like crazy!

As it brings joy, it brings tears-that double-edged sword.

If you have acute perceptive skills, look no further than the current IPOs from Gas Malaysia, FGV and the current IHH.

Like it or not ,even if they are not cornerstone anchor buyers, they massively move into counters and play the institutional fool with the people's hard earn cash.

Last week, they sold down super-blues from BAT, PBB, TM,TNB and what not; possibly because they could not digest the FGV load.

Now, they have off-loaded the FGV to risk takers, they have come back to reclaim their holdings in the super-blues such as BAT, TM, Axiata and TNB.

An interesting thing I saw was they had begun to load up on YTL Corp, PBB, TM,TNB and Digi-com.

They must have little birds telling them the time to go into these two counters because of corporate developments or they have been pushing up the prices to reclaim shares that are dividend paying and  as for the people's money-they luck in or luck out at your own risk!

Poor contributors!

BJF-Catastrophe OR Sales or what?

Wahloi! Designer Coffee...
Yes, the board is crimson red for both BJFoods (BJF) and its Offer for Sale(OR).

From the get go, when it started off at a good 69.5 sen, it has gone down the sewage of prices touching a nadir of  56.5 en for a dunking 8.5 sen loss. Right now, it is hovering at the inconsolable bid price of 57.5 sen and 58.5 sen.

The number of  done deals is 5,076 and from the array of buyers and sellers in lot terms, there is a big seller at 59.5 sen (200 lots) and 88 lots at 0.60 sen.

Until it stops trading on 23 July, it can go both ways depending on the price of BJF.

By 24th July, get your money to buy the rights at 65 sen with the accompanying warrants.

If I am to postulate, at the ex-price for the OR at 66.5 and adding RM1 as the overnight closing price of BJF, the rights and mother shares should even out to RM1.65 for a  16 sen gain after deducting for trading overheads.

I would like to guess that the warrants should do well at 70 sen convertible price on a longer term with the inclusion of Starbucks into BJF's account. At the current price of BJF, you should stand to gain about 15 sen per warrant on conversion.

It is still 'early days' as weak holders of the OR who do not want to cough out cash for the BJF rights have sold or are lining up for the sale of the OR.

Remember day traders can manipulate if there is one sen net either way.

No Time-lah.....

Relative but true
Mou Tak han- that was the response for ending many a conversation.

And that was Joyce's response when she does not want to prolong a conversation. By the way, Joyce is a very pretty woman and now mother of two.

Let's move back to the issue of time.

I used to have plenty of time to stand and stare. Time to go down memory lane to watch the golden movies of yesteryears.

No, not any more. Why?

My present preoccupation.

There is the usual week-end English teaching and the regular work from an office in Bangsar.

I am now also preparing for my Commissioner of Oath examinations on 18 July. Not too confident this time but may ace it is the questions are in my alley.

Then, there is that booklet to write for a corporation due in end of August.

I am also thinking of attending a a translation course and to procure a translation certificate that could open up a vista of translation business for me from the government sector.

So, no time-lah......

Kiasu Singapore Goes For Cooking

Cooking up a storm
Yes, these days, girls must learn how to cook good.

A friend just told me her grand-daughter who is schooling in Singapore got top marks in English.

However, she scored ever poorly in cooking which Singapore insists should be the innate quality of a good wife and mother.

So, for those desiring to go to Singapore to study on an ASEAN scholarship, make sure you learn as much from you mum before crossing the Causeway.

BJF-Taking Losses Honourably

Roasting or roasted?

It's one treacherous pursuit.

Hopefully, it is an unfinished journey and sweet melodies may beckon.

God knows, even those who bought low below RM1.00 per lot have to suffer the indignity of suffering from first blood losses.

A third party bought in 5,000 shares at the RM1.41 to RM1.43 before the cum period ended.

12th  July saw odd commencing prices wit the highest being 99 sen. The lowest was RM93.5 sen.

Thankfully, demand rose yesterday with the share moving almost to the adjusted fair trading price of RM1.06. It closed at RM1.04.

Cum shareholders should see the light of day when the Offer for Sale Rights (OR)letter goes atrading on 17th to 23rd July. Assuming that it fetches good prices of RM0.40 per OR or more, then 4000 shares should set RM1,600.

We also do not know the price of the warrants.

Until we know all these variables, I think  there is still a fighting chance in BJF.

A Whole Lotta Selling

Selling Wholesale

I guess the EPF, Khazanah and all those pension funds are liquidating their holdings in blue chips to hold on to their new acquisition of FGV shares.

This is actually quite a concern because liquidating  defensive stocks like TM, Digi, BAT and also banking shares may not be a wise move even though opportunities may present itself to enter these stocks again at another time. There could be a relative loss of dividends or even appreciation as Wall Street has broken its losing streak to rise sharply on Friday last.

Wanton Seller

The only interesting thing I found was that EPF is picking up YTL Corp shares

What gives?
