A Technical Glitch Saves the first Woman to be caned in Malaysia

Kartika, a Malaysian model was caught drinking beer at a hotel lounge in a province in Malaysia.Shariah law, forbade Muslims from consuming alcohol.She was arrested. Sentence was summarily passed and she was to be given six of the best. Many women groups condemned the sentence and Amnesty International have asked that the sentence be revoked and laws be amended to prohibit woman from being caned.

The day for the caning came closer. This morning, the actress was put into a van and it sped off in the direction of Kuala Lumpur. Suddenly it did a U-turn and released Kartika at the door-steps of her home in Karai, in the province of Perak. A technical glitch made the warrant to be null and void.

Is this for a fact or has this to do with politics, especially with polling day tomorrow at a by-election in the nearby province of Penang?

Cocoaland-Another Potential Buy?

Before considering putting your money on this potential stock, it would be good if you briefly know up close what this creature is all about.

Cocoaland Holdings Berhad (Cocoaland)is an investment holding company. It engages in manufacturing and trading processed and preserved foods, fruits, and other related food stuffs primarily in Malaysia. Cocoaland also engages in the wholesale and retail of processed and preserved foods; and the manufacture of fruit juices. Its products include chocolates, cookies and wafer, nuts, candies and gummies, snacks, and soft drinks and jellies. Based in Kuala Lumpur, it is a subsidiary of Leverage Success Sdn Bhd.

Cocoaland had set-up a plant in Fujian province in China under a 50:50 joint venture (JV) to produce its popular Lot 100 fruit gummy products. It is one of the few gummy manufacturers in Asia. In the JV, Cocoaland signed an agreement with China’s La Bi Xiao Xin International Co Ltd. The JV company, Coco (Fujian) Food Industrial Co Ltd, involved US$5 million (RM17 million) in investment and commence production in August 2007. Cocoaland manufactures while its Chinese partner manages the distribution and marketing. The investment is fully funded via cash. Expected earnings from the China operations started coming on stream in 2008 The full revenue impact will be seen in 2009.

La Bi Xiao Xin is a unit of Singapore-listed China Lifestyle Food & Beverages Group Ltd. It has more than 17,000 retail outlets under the La Bi Xiao Xin brand and annual revenue of over 500 million renminbi (RM221 million). The distribution network is large. It would be no surprise if Cocoaland may dominate at least 1% of China’s Market someday through this JV company.

Cocoaland is at RM 1.03,has P/E of around 10 compare to the industry standard, Dividend Yield 5%.

Cocoaland can be expected to declare bonus issues and or special dividend for its investors.

So, what do you know, when he wants something done, he 'bellows ever so gently'. It is a gentle nudge but it has the impact of a full blown tsumani. Woe betide those who will stand in his way!

So in his home-town of Pekan yesterday (Aug 23) PM Najib gave his third commandment to government agencies,GLCs and those hwo have benefited from government initiatives.

First, he ordered the recluse Ananda to ship back MAXIS for a re-listing on Bursa. Then he took Sime Darby to task. List your plantation arm and get rid of losing yet prestigious businesses like the fanciful motor-trade.


Today, prior to the potential listing of FELDA,the largest government initiated land scheme, the PM wants the country's three biggest agriculture agencies to form a consortium to carry out high-impact downstream activities.

He was bullish in his belief that the cooperation between Felda, Risda and Felcra could multiply profits for the three government agencies, besides eradicating poverty more effectively.

The three affected agencies have been ordered to put up their the joint-venture concept for acceptance and implementation.

He said, even though "the three remain as separate agencies, projects can be carried out together through a consortium".

Najib suggested that the three agencies can focused on areas like plantation and industrial plant management.For example, he said, they could set up a fertiliser plant or palm oil mill, the use of which could be shared by the Felda, Risda and Felcra scheme participants. The result would then provide bigger economic benefits to be shared .
I know one thing about PM Najib. He is not a mean fellow but he is superbly intelligent, well read and does not mince his words.Those holding the reins of these three agencies better buck up or they will surely lose their comfortable seats and generous salaries plus allowances!Say 'Sayonara' if you should fail!

Megan, a Man?

There has been a controversy brewing since Megan said she was a man at the Golden Globes cermeony this year (2009). The internet has been abuzz since then and the story refuses to die.Let s go back to the genesis to this oddity of a story.

When interviewed on the red carpet, Megan Fox said “I look like Alan Alda in drag. I’m a tranny. I’m a man.” At the time, reporters passed it off as a jovial attempt to cover for her nerves. However, she has come out to clear the air confirming what was officially reported: she’s really a man.

Megan Fox has this story to tell. She was born Mitchell Reed Fox in Rockwood, Tennessee. From an early age, Mitchell showed an interest in both performing and women’s clothing. When having a preacher lay hands on him did not ‘cure’ him of these interests, his parents simply put him on the pageant circuit.

By the age of 13, Mitchell had already started a career as a female child performer called ‘Megan Fox’. She made her debut on an Olsen Twins straight-to-video release, and the twins have kept his secret all this time.

When she turned 16, Fox’s parents offered him sexual reassignment surgery.

Since then Megan has been working non-stop, and been included on many Hottest Women lists in publications around the world.

Megan, as she goes by now exclusively, also told the press that she wanted Salma Hayek’s figure. She has scheduled surgery later this year to get it. After the two met in New York recently , Hayek offered to have a cast made of her bust so doctors can match them exactly on Megan Fox’s chest.

So reconstructive surgery can do wonders. Creating Megan Fox is a miracle!
