To Be a Sales Promoter

Call it what you want. Brand Ambassador or even Sales Promoter cum Sales Person.

Such jobs are mostly taken upon by college students and those between jobs-waiting for a permanent job.

The interesting thing about such jobs is its impermanence-here today, gone tomorrow.

The products you promote or sell can range from air fresheners, detergent products, pet food to beverages.

So, this happened to be the job my daughter tried her hand before going into permanent employment.

After a short 4 to 6 hours training, you can ready to take on the job in a supermarket prepared with props, samples, script and attire.

While on the job, you are visited upon by your supervisor to ensure that you are there doing the promotion. Then there is an auditor who pretends to slink by to pretend to be a customer and he or she judges your performance to give you that added bonus.

Promoters have good sales day, meet interesting customers and sometimes get chastised by both auditors and supervisors for being late, unkempt and not meeting sales targets.

Reflecting on the highs and lows of the job and the late and oftentimes incomplete payments, my daughter's favourite on the job assignment was selling pet food wearing a fluffy white cat tail. It was fun while it lasted....

Today ends her days as a sales promoter and brand ambassador-closing another short chapter of life.

Sharing Joy

Nothing like sharing joy..............

Don't Be Conned!

Yes, this syndicate or similar syndicates had been operating since 2009-so said those people from Bukit Aman.

I got a call from the syndicate just about 30 minutes ago.

This is how it went.

"Hello! This is Bukit Aman. Inspector Lee here. Is that Mr. ABC?"

" Yes....."

Conversation turned into Chinese.

" Saya tak faham....." I replied.

The line then went cold.

The number of the caller was 03-2266 2222.

For the uninitiated, Bukit Aman is the Police HQ of the Malaysian Royal Police Force. From reading some of the blogs of those who had received similar calls, apparently, they will cajoled you with some stories of money laundering and put the apparent proverbial fear into you that somehow you or your loved ones are involved as some of your documents have been found with the so-called money laundering syndicate.

According the the blogs, if you phone that number on your hand-phone using the land-line, you will reach Bukit Aman. However, if you use the hand phone instead, you will reach the syndicate which was marking you for a con.

So, how did they do it?

One theory is that the syndicate have people in both Celcom and Telekom Malaysia who are technically speaking, helping them in the rip-off.

So, watch out and do not feel dismayed if you should receive such a call.

Halelujah! Praise the Lord!

It has been a long saga. from deciding to send our daughter to do a professional course way back in 2007 and to see its eventual end today.

Praise the Lord for this day. It is the day that my daughter transit from the world as a formal accounting student into the real  world of  bean counting.

We have seen God's favour upon us as we uphold his Holy Name. Yes, a milestone for the family and for my daughter in particular. As the good Book says, if God is for you, who can be against you. Neither circumstances, powers and principalities if you have the spirit, armour and sword of  God.

We thank the Lord for the joy he is bringing into our home.

Amen.
